ACTIVITIES OF BURGLARS.

TOBACCONIST LOSES HEAVILY. SHOP THOROUGHLY RANSACKED. (Speci l to Daily Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 10. Another suburban burglary was carried out between the hours of midnight and 6 o’clock this morning, when Mr A. E. Hartshorne, tobacconist, of Strowan road, was robbed of about £4O worth of stock and about 4s worth of coppers and 200 or 3Cobalfpennies, which were in a box under the counter of his shop. The shop is one of a block of buildings, and evidently the thieves had been watching the place. Last evening Mr Hartshorne was on the premises until midnight, and when he left everything wag quite safe. A milkman going round this morning noticed that a bolt at the top of the shop door and the lock at the bottom had been forced. He went to Mr Hartshorne’s private address, and the latter notified the police. The burglars ransacked the shop, taking nearly all the stock of cigarettes, as well a s several boxes of cigars, bottles of perfume, razors, and hair clippers. This is the third time that burglars have paid attention to the shop, the last attempts having been made both on the front and back doors. Evidently the thieves made no attempt on the back door, for it is Secured with two bolts and a lock.
