SHIP IN DISTRESS.
BELIEVED TO BE TRAWLER. TROUBLE ONLY TEMPORARY. {Peb United Pa ess Association.) NAPIER, March 11. Early this evening the inspector of police in Napier was advised by telephone from Porangehau that a vessel which is believed in shipping circles here to be the James Cosgrove, a trawler from Aucklanc. appeared to bo in trouble about four miles off shore. Settlers lit a fire to indicate to the ship that she was seen. _ The Kahika is expected to reach the vicinity about 11 o’clock tonight and has been instructed by wireless to keep a lookout. Later, however, it was reported that the distressed ship appeared to nave moved off under her own steam in a southerly direction, It is assumed that the vessel experienced engine trouble, which was eventually righted without assistance.
