CONSCIENTIOUS DRIVER.

Louis Wolf son, a truck driver, of No. 795 Last 192nd street, the Bronx, was held in lOOOdol bail in Homicide Court, alter he had told police that a woman struck by his truck on December 2 last had died in Harlem Hospital , (says the New York World). The police, it de veloped, had not known the woman had been struck until informed by Wolfson. The truck driver walked,, into the East 104th street station and asked the lieu tenant why he had not been arrested. “ For what ? ” queried the lieutenant. “ For homicide,” said the truck driver. He then related how he ran down Mrs Barah Labsoff, 65 of No 119 East 95th street, at Third avenue and 96th street, called an ambulance, and saw her taken away to Harlem Hospital. Much con cerned, he had called .at the hospital the following dav to learn that the woman had died of her injuries. Ho said he expected any moment to be arrested, but no police came for him either at bis place of employment, the New York Wet Wash Laundryi No. 413 East 91st street, or at his home. So, be said, he decided to come to them. tn Homicide Court later. Magistrate Macrery listened to the voluntary prisoner’s account of the accident, and asked: ‘‘l suppose you’d even bo willing to produce witnesses to the homicide? ” “ Certainlv." said the truck driver; “I’ll go out and get some. I have the. names here.” He produced a pad, on which were names of several persons. He said he had taken them down at.the scene of the accident.
