INTERESTING ENGAGEMENT.
MISS JOY KENNERI.EY RUM FORD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, January 17. One of the interesting engagements of the Now Year is that announced between Miss Joy Kenncrley-Rumford, only daughter of Mr Kenncrley-Rumford and Dame Clara Butt, and Major Claude Cross, I.M.S. (retired). Miss Kennerlcy-Rumford, one of the tallest girls in society, is full of life and energy, and much resembles her mother in manner and bearing. Mother and daughter have always been very great companions. During the last few months there has boon a now business bond between mother and daughter, for Miss Kennerley-Rnmford has lately been managing the little dress shop which Dame Clara opened in Bruton street last year. Miss Kennerley-Rumford told a press representative that this shop, at which sports clothes are a special feature, is managed almost entirely by herself and a cousin. It is early yet to talk about tho wedding arrangements, more especially as the prospective bride’s parents are _at present abroad. Dame Clara is making her first visit to India, and it is unlikely that any details concerning the wedding will bo announced until after her return from the East.
