INSTITUTION OF CIVIL ENGINEERS.
OCTOBER EXAMINATIONS. SUCCESSFUL NEW ZEALANDERS. (From Oub Own Correspondent.) LONDON, January 19. A number of New Zealand candidates were successful in the October examinations of the institution of Civil Engineers. The results were announced this week. Of the 69 entrants for the preliminary examination, the' following New Zealanders were successful: —lan A. Cromie, Stewart M'Gregor, Caswell J. W. Parsons, and William J. Sym e (Wellington) ; Albert N. Duder, Harry T. Frost, Frank M. M'Cullough, Charles J. S. Sims, and Robert D. Young (Auckland) ; Robert P. Fish (Geraldine) ; Herbert St, 0. P. Andrews (Ohakune Junction) ; Alan R. Gillespie (Whangarei) ; Erik A. 0. Holst, and Douglas A. Lane (Christchurch) ; lan W. M‘Kin. non (Dunedin) ; William H. Moore (Stratford) ; Albert E. Shaw (Invercargill). Of the 296 candidates who have qualified for associate membership, two New Zealanders were successful in the whole examination (sections A, B, and C), namely, Frederick W. Lindup (Alexandra) and Leslie F, Row (Blenheim). In sections A and B only, for which there were 17 entries, the foowing were successful :—Bryan W. Charnian (Dunedin), and Arnold E. Clark (Wellington). Sections B and C only.—The 12 successful entrants included Leonard L. Meadowcroft (Blenheim) and William F. Young (Christchurch). Section A only (48- entrants). —Edward H. M. Adams (Ohakune Junction). D’Arcy 0. Haskell, Kenneth F. Jones, Wilfred j. Litherland (Auckland), John Hurrell (Otago). , Section B only (28).—Francis W. Petre, Richard Stent (Christchurch), Malcolm J. Thomas (Waikato), and Ralph 0. Tomkins (Auckland). In section C only, for which there were 174 entrants, the' following New Zealanders were successful: —Charles E. K. Alecock (Westport), Philip J. Alley, 8.E., lan M‘L. Malcolm (Dunedin), Norman R. Carter (Arrowtown). Cyril W. Firth and Eric J. Garlick (Auckland), Allan G. Harris, B.E. (Napier).
