THE POLITICAL ARENA.
ADDRESS BY MR H. E. HOLLAND. VARIETY OF SUBJECTS DISCUSSED. (Per United Press Association.) WESTPORT, March 11. Mr H. E. Holland, M.P. (Leader of the Opposition) delivered a political address in front of the Town Hall last night. Mr Holland, amongst other matters, dealt with the. Buffer Gorge railway construction, of which there is at present some prospect, as hut accommodation has been provided for a large number of men. Other matters discussed were the coastal road, unemployment, the Imperial Conference, rural credits, land and income taxation, the petrol tax, the loan to the Radio Broadcasting Association,, the Singapore naval base, local industries and tariffs, the Industrial and Arbitration Act, the coming Industrial Conference, and Western Samoa. At the conclusion of the address a vote of thanks was accorded the speaker and the Mayor (Mr Harkness), who presided.
