THE ROYAL COLONIAL INSTITUTE.
NEW TITLE UNDER CONSIDERATION. (From Our Own Correspondent.; LONDON, January 25. The Royal Colonial Institute celebrates its Diamond Jubilee this year, and it is not unlikely that the occasion may be marked by a change in its title. Many ot the Fellows arc in favour of the title. “ The Royal Empire Society,” in view of the fact that since its inception so many of the former colonics have been raised to Dominion status. The institute was originally the Royal Colonial Society. The Secretary (Sir G. M. Boughcy) states that the council considered more than 30 suggested titled before deciding ou “ The Royal Empire Society.” No farther suggestions are likely to be accepted for consideration, so that whether the proposed change will be made will stand or fall upon the wishes of the Fellows in regard to the name now recommended to them. In a late issue of the magazine of the institute a voting paper was enclosed, thus giving Fellows the opportunity of acceptance or rejection of the name submitted. The matter will be referred to at the next annual meeting iu a. few months’ time.
