A COSTLY OVERSIGHT.
TRUST ACCOUNT NOT AUDITED. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, March; 9. J. R. K. Maclennan, formerly a solicitor practising at Kaitaia, did not appear nor was ho represented at the Police Court this morning when ho was charged with having failed to have h’s trust, fund account audited for the year ended March 31, 1927. Mr V. N. Hubble, who prosecuted for the Crown, said that the Solicitorgeneral had no knowledge that defendant was in ' practice until July of 1921. Defendant was in practice until July of 1927. Defendant, in a letter, stated that he was an Australian barrister who had obtained his certificate in New Zealand in 1906. He had been written to several times and requested to forward his certificate by an auditor, but had not availed himself ot the opportunities afforded him. He ceased to practise on October 16 last. Defendant was fined the minimum penalty, £SO. Mr W. R. M'Kean, S.M., also ordered him to pay costs amounting to £8 12s 2d.
