ADMINISTRATOR’S RETIREMENT. STATEMENT BY PRIME MINISTER. (Per United Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, March 9. The Prime Minister issued the following statement to-night;—• “A statement was published some time ago to the effect that the Administrator of the mandated territory of AA 7 ester 11 Samoa. General Sir George Richardson, retires next May, but would remain in Samoa for a few months longer. This is not correct. “ General Richardson completes his term on the 16th inst., and has been appointed New Zealand’s representative at Geneva when reports in connection with the mandates are being considered in June next. The selection of General Richardson to represent New Zealand at Geneva is tho reason which prevents his reappointment ns -Administrator on the expiry of his present term of office. He will, howexcr, continue to hold the present position until his successor is appointed and arrives in Samoa to assume the duties of Administrator. “Tho name of the new Administrator will be announced in due course.”
