VOLCANIC ACTIVITY.

POSITION AT NGAURUHOE. INCESSANT RUMBLINGS. (Phe United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 3. The Herald’s special reporter telegraphed from the Tongariro National Park to-night as follows:—“ The activity of Ngauruhoe continues, explosive eruptions taking place at midday to-day. The rumble is practically incessant, and, last night three flashes occurred just after dark. It is not known whether their origin was the volcano. A party spent some time at the actual base above Tama Lake yesterday afternoon, and deep rumbles rose and feh constantly. On one occasion two volumes of steam were observed above the crater, suggesting the theory of a second vent having opened, but tlie cause may b© air currents.”
