SOUTHERN RUSSIA
OUTBREAK OF REVOLUTION. PEASANTS DISSATISFIED. (Pres* Association—By Telegraph—Copyright j CONSTANTINOPLE, January 31. (Received Feb. 1, at 11 p.m.) The naval attache at the British Embassy informed the Turkish authorities that the Russian ports of Crimea are closed by mines, and the newspapers report an outbreak of revolution in South Russia. This is attributed to the peasants’ dissatisfaction with the prices the Soviet fixed for cereals, but it is believed that the revolters are also receiving help from a number of officers and men of the Red army, who support Trotsky. The Soviet Government is said to be mobilising large military and naval forces to stamp out the rebellion. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
