Burnside, February 1. Fat Cattle.—About 240 head were , yarded. There were very few extra prime "heavy bullocks on offer, the great proportion of the yarding being made up of medium-weight bullocks, with the usual supply of well-finished cows and heifers. The sale was slow, but prices ruled on a parity with last week. Prime bullocks made £l4 to £l6 7s fid; medium bullocks, ill to £l2 10s; light bullocks, £9 10s to £lO 10s; prime cows and heifers, £8 10s to £ll 2s fid; medium cows and heifers, £7 10s to £8 7s fid; inferior and old, £o to £6 15s. Tho annual meeting of shareholders of the Wellington Trust, Loan, and Investment Company, Ltd., was held to-day. Mr J. A. Plimmor (chairman of directors), in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, said that the accounts for tho past year disclosed a satisfactory position considering that general finance had been stringent throughout that period. After recommending the payment of a dividend ’Of 44 per cent, for the half-year ended December 31, which, together with the interim dividend, made 8 per cent, for the year, they were able to place £ISOO to the reserve fund from the profits, bringing it up to the substantial sum of £78,500, which was practically covered by the liquid assets, including the company’s valuable business premises on Lambton quay, which were unencumbered. In reply to a question, tho Chairman said that the reserve fund was added to every year, and now stood at a substantial amount. The report and balance sheet were adopted. Messrs J. J. Reich and O. b. Tho fortnightly slock sale was hold at Gore yesterday, there being a poor attendance of farmers' and buyers. Fat Sheep.—There was an entry of 404. The sale was dull and slow and several lots failed to reach vendor’s reserves and were passed in. Fat wethers made 30s, and fat ewes 13s. Store Sheep.—The yarding comprised 506, and the market was belovy recent quotations. Forward lambs realised up to 22s Bd, and store wethers wore quitted at 23s 4d, while ewes and lambs fetched 14s 6d all counted. Fat Cattle.—An entry of 17 head was forward, mostly fat cows with a few fat steers. Tho market was not quite up to recent values, but tho bulk of tho entry was disposed of.
