TAIERI POULTRY SOCIETY.

There was a fair attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Taieri Poultry Society. Mr W. Smart was in the chair. The report and balance sheet showed that the society had had a good year, and the finances were in a healthy state. Members, in speaking to the adoption of the report and balance sheet, credited the secretary (Mr John Williamson) with the success that the society had achieved during the past few years, particularly in--1027, and he was accorded a vote of thanks for his labours. The following office-bearers were elected:—Life members, Messrs P. C. Sinclair and Fleming; president, Mr J. P. Walls; vice-presidents—Messrs P. C. Sinclair, W. Smart, James Fleming. William M'Leod, W. E. M'Lean, Kirkland, and William Blackie. Committee—Messrs J. Fleming, P. C. Sinclair, R. Smeaton, W. M'Leod, W. Smart, W. A. Turnbull, J. M'Gettigan, A. Pedofsky, S. and A. Young, A. Murdoch, T. H. Gourley, W. Brough, D. Connor, R, Aitken, R. Walton, W. L. Walton, William Gore, P. A. Gibson, George Shaw, R. Prebble, P. Bathgate. J. W. Davis, and J. Little; auditors, Messrs A. Murdoch and W. Smart; secretary, John Williamson. Among the correspondence forwarded by the South Island Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Association, the following was noted:—At the twenty-eighth annual meeting, held at Timaru, it had been resolved that clubs not providing cages for canaries be deleted from canary championships the following year, and that clubs drawing canary championships at this meeting and not requiring them to advise the association at once, bo that they could be allotted to other societies. The following championships have been allotted to the society for its 1928 show: Houdan (open class), utility white Indian Runner, old English game bantam, Black Red, any other variety fancy pigeon, Norwich canary, self green, or foul green, N.C.F. The secretary was instructed to procure the usual quantity of art union books from the South Island Association. This year the prizes are paintings valued at fSO. In addition, the society will in all probability have a special door prize or prizes, details of which will be arranged at next meeting.
