MACHINE GUN POWER. INCREASE FOR THE INFANTRY. (Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright i LONDON, January 28. (Received Jan. 29, at 5.5 p.m.) Carrying out its decision to increase the infantry's machine gun power, the Army Council is adding a machine gun section to each battalion now possessing a machine gun platoon. Battalions will ultimately bo equipped with a machine gun company, with 12 guns, carried on lorries, the establishment being one machine gun and three bayonet companies, adding altogether 544 guns. Cavalry regiments at present possess a machine gun squadron.—The Times.
