The Corinna, which arrived hero yesterday morning from Wellington, will loa<J general cargo to-day, and sail this evening for Wellington, Nelson, and New Zealand, via porta. The Port Caroline left Port Chalmers early on Saturday morning for Timaru and other northern ports to complete loading for London. The Opihi came to Dunedin on Saturday from Port Chalmers to discharge coal and load general cargo. She is to sail to-night for Timaru and Westport. The Waipiata left Auckland on Friday evening for Lyttelton and Dunedin with general cargo and Island fruit. She is duo here to-morrow, and will sail about Wednesday for east coast ports and Auckland. The Gale has been fixed to load at Dunedin on Friday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Kurow sailed on Saturday evening for Lyttelton to complete loading for Wellington and Auckland. The Breeze is due here to-morrow morning from Lyttelton to discharge and load general cargo. ’ She is to sail to-morrow night for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and Wanganui. The Sussex sailed on Saturday afternoon for Bluff, where the remainder of her Calcutta cargo will bo discharged. She will afterwards go to Sydney and then to Newcastle to load coal for Java. The Calm is due at Dunedin on February 7 from Bluff to load general cargo for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and Wanganui. Bn route irom Java, with a full cargo of raw sugar f or Auckland, the steamer Haleric is reported to have passed Cape Moreton on January 24. She is due at Auckland early this week. From Auckland and Hokianga, via Greymouth, tho auxiliary schooner Huia reached Melbourne on January 24. After unloading her timber cargo she will take explosives to Queensland ports. Subsequently she will go to Grafton to load hardwood for Auckland. The R.M.S. Tahiti left San Francisco on January 25 for Papeete, Rarotonga, Wellington and Sydney. She is due at Wellington on February 13. The Cumberland was to leave Napier on Saturday for New Plymouth, Wanganui, and Wellington. She is due at Wellington on February 13, and will sail finally from that port on February 18 for London, via Panama. The Hertford is to leave New Plymouth on February 6 for Auckland. MAMELIUS TO LOAD. The Shaw-Savill Company announces that the steamer Mamilius is due at Port Chalmers on February 15 from Lyttelton and Bluff to load wool and other products tor England. The vessel will sail finally from this port about February 21 for London, via Panama. FORT HUNTER REPORTED. The Port Hunter, en route from Liverpool to Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin, sailed from Panama on January 25. The vessel is due at Auckland about February 16. SOMERSET TO LEAVE LIVERPOOL. The Federal steamer Somerset is to leave Liverpool on February 4 with cargo for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Port Chai mers. She is due at Auckland about March 18. OORINTHIC FROM ENGLAND. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Line steamer Corinthic is scheduled to leave London on February 1 for Wellington, Port Chalmers and Lyttelton. She is due at Wellington on March 13. OIL FOR NEW ZEALAND. The Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Company’s steamer Radix is reported to have sailed from Balikapapan on January 22 with oil for New Zealand. She is a vessel of 6352 tons, and her former name was the Linerton. KING EDWIN FROM TEXAS. The King Line’s new motor ship King Edwin is reported to have cleared Port Arthur, Texas, on January 15 for Auckland, Wellington, Napier, New Plymouth, Geelong, Adelaide and Brisbane. She is due at Auckland about February 23. Tho vessel was built last year at Belfast by Harland and Wolff. Ltd. Her tonnage is 4194 and her dimensions are: Length 400.8 ft, breadth £4.7ft, depth 23.6 ft. She is registered at Loudon. TAINUI’S LOADING PORTS. The Tainul, now discharging London cargo at Auckland, will proceed later to Tokomaru Bay, Lyttelton, Picton. and Wellington to load products for England. She is scheduled to sail finally from Wellington at daybreak on February 15 for Southampton and London, via Panama. MAMILIUS TO LOAD FOE LONDON. The steamer Mamilius (formerly Zealandic) arrived in the Wanganui roadstead on Thursday from Newcastle to commence loading for London. The vessel will proceed later to Wellington, Bluff, Port Chalmers, and Lyttelton to complete loading. She is due at this port on February 15, and will sail finally Irom Lyttelton about February 23 for London, via Panama, CARGO PROM EAST CANADA. News by cable has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Ikala left Sydney (Cape Breton) on Saturday for St. John to continue loading for New Zealand and Australia. 'Chatham Islands. —Tamaroa, Port Dunedin, Hororata. NEW LINER FOE AUSTRALIAN TRADE. The new Royal Mail steamer which has been ordered by the Orient Steam Navigation Company, Ltd.* for the Australian trade, will be named the Orontes. Of 22,000 tors gross register, she will be the largest vessel in the Australian trade (says the Sydney Morning Herald). Within recent years he passenger service from London to Australia has been considerably improved by the addition of many fast and commodious liners. Unsuitable vessels have gradually been replaced by steamers specially designed for the trade, with extended facilities for the carriage of cargo. In order to meet the increased demand for passenger trade, ike Orient Company decided to build two new steamers, one of which wag to replace the Ormuz, which was recently sold. The first new steamer, the Oxford, was launched in October, and the Orontes will bo ready for delivery in autumn next year. CYDONIA FROM CANADA. Under charter to th e New Zealand Shipping Company, the steamer Cydonia arrived at Dunlin on Saturday afternoon from Eastern Canadian porta, via Panama, Auckland Wellington, and Lyttelton. The vessel was 'berthed at the Rattray street wharf to unload a quantity of Canadian merchandise. The cargo was loaded at Montreal, Sydney (Capo Breton) and Newport News. The Cydonia sailed from Montreal on November 25, Sydney on November 30, Newport News on December 8, and Panama on December 17. The voyage was uneventful. Generally fine weather prevailed, until January 9, when the wind blew strongly from the south-west accompanied by rough seas Two days later the wind changed to the south-east, and on Sunday it was blowing with gale force, the boisterous conditions continuing until the vessel reached the shelter of the Hauraki Gulf. The Cydonia is owned by the Stag Line of South Shields. She was built 12 months ago and is the first vessel of the company to visit New Zealand. Captain W. Stevens is in command, and he has with him the following officers; Chief, Mr J. Kelly; second, Mr E. Joyce; third. Mr T. H. Irving; chief engineer. Mr S. Gillard; second, Mr W. Fortune; third, Mr N. Houghton; wireless operator, Mr C. S Nixon; chief steward, Mr Vincent. The Sydonia is to sail to-day for Sydney and Melbourne to complete discharge.

SUNKEN COAL HULK. Operations for the removal of the sunken coa\ hulk Arawattf were commenced by the Union Company at Wellington last week. About 10 months ago the Arawatta fouled a propellor of the Federal liner Devon, which was lying in the stream, and which was about to coal, and a large hole was torn in the hulk's plating. An attempt was made to beach the hulk at Kalwarra, but she Bank in fairly deep water veryclose inshore. The coal was subsequently removed from the vessel by means of a _graidredge. In view of the forthcoming railway construction works along the Kaiwarra foreshore the hulk had to be removed and this is being done by explosive charges to break it up. OVERSEAS SUMMARY.
