The announcer, who is able to see each train before it enters the station, calls out the platform from which the next train will leave, and the stations at w-hich it will call. The announcer generally finishes each announcement with, “ Hurry along, please-." By means of a switching device he is able to control the loud speakers installed on the separate platforms. During the last five years 3,000,000 people in America have received hospital treatment as a result of road accidents.
