BURIED TREASURE
JESUIT HOARD IN BOLIVIA. SEARCH BY BRITISH PARTY. rpress Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, i LONDON, January 25. A buried treasure of gold, silver, and diamonds, estimated to be worth £12,000,000, is the fascinating objective of a band of explorers which will shortly set out for Bolivia. Dr Edgar Sanders says that the Jesuits mined and exported gold and silver to Europe regularly up to 1767; then, becoming aware that they were likely to be banished, they continued up to 1778 to secrete hoards in on e place, believing that they would be allowed to return. Dr Sanders says that he holds a document revealing the hiding place. Previous digging operations revealed a silver crucifix and a parchment putting a curse upon anybody proceeding in a further search. The workmen declined to go on. Dr Sanders declares that he is certain that he is on the right track.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
