Mr Richard Hudson returned to Dunedin from Christchurch by the through ex. press yesterday. Mr E. H. Lough was a passenger from Christchurch by the first express yesterday. Mr W. T. Hazlett was a through passenger to Invercargill by the express yesterday. Mr Ernest M'Kinlay left for Auckland by the through express yesterday. Mr H. C. Cameron, late produce commissioner for the Government, and now representing the English distributing firms of George, Bowles, Nicholls, and Company, left by the through express from Dunedin yesterday to embark on the Ruahiae, en route to the Old Country. Mr M. Barnett, who has been in Dunedin on business, returned to Christchurch yesterday. His brother, Mr Arthur Barnett, is to start next month on a trip to England with his wife and family. Mr H. F. Nicoll (president of the New Zealand Trotting Association) arrived in Dunedin last evening, and is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr H. T. Kitto (sales manager in the Dominion for Messrs Daniel Crawford) arrived in the city last evening. Sir Alexander Roberts left on his return to Wellington yesterday morning. Mr P. Macassey, of Cromwell, is at present on a visit to Dunedin. A London cablegram states that the Hon. Alexandra Hore-Ruthven, who has been appointed Governor of South Australia, has been created a K.C.M.G. The appointment of Mr A. E. A cablegram from Ottawa reports that a Winnipeg message states that grave anxiety is felt over the serious condition of the Premier of Manitoba (Mr J. Bracken), who is suffering from intestinal trouble. An operation is suggested. A motion, of sympathy with the relatives of Messrs A. O. Buchler, G. Gardiner, and A. Chesney, wa s carried at the meeting of the Otago Education Board yesterday Mr C. H. Sinnnonds, of Napier, who has been in Dunedin in charge of the HawKe's Bay swimming team, went north with Miss Mavi s Simmonds yesterday morning. A Wellington Press Association message announces that the gold medal of the New Zealand Institute of Architects for 1927 has been awarded by the Royal Institute of British Architects to Stanley W Fearn, architect, of Wellington, for the, William Booth Memorial Training College Aro street, Wellington, which he designed, and which vyas erected in 1913. At a- meeting of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association last evening, the president, Mr J. T. Paul, presented the secretary, Mr T. Anderson, with a handsome salad bowl, suitably inscribed on behalf of the members of the association to mark the occasion of his recent marriage In making the presentation, Mr Paul wished Mr and Mrs Anderson every happiness and success in their future life.
