CEMENT WORKER DROWNED. Per United Press Associ.'ticn.i WHANGAREI, January 26. A worker at the Portland ‘Cement Works named Giles was drowned this afternoon. He was assisting in loading a boat at the wharf, and fell into the water and was neever seen again. The police received the news at 8 o’clock this evening, and Constables Clemence and Baesley, of Whangarei, are searching with lights and grappling irons. INQUEST ADJOURNED. (Per United Press Association.) GISBORNE, January 26. The inquest concerning the death of James Old, aged 20, .who died suddenly at Kaiti Beach yesterday, was adjourned, as the post-mortem gave no indication how the hajmorrhage which was the immediate cause of death, had occurred, and the coroner desired the report of the pathological department on specimens of the organs.
