POLITICS IN NORWAY
FIRST LABOUR CABINET. MODERATE POLICY INSISTED ON. (Press Association— -By Telegraph—Copyright / OSLO, January 24. (Received Jan. 25, at 11.30 p.m.) The King has invited the Labourites, the strongest party in the Storthing, to form a Cabinet. They have consented, and thus Norway’s first Labour Government is the result of the King’s invitation. The Premier, however, will not be the Labour Leader, Mr Alfred Madson, who is too deeply compromised with supporters of the Soviet, but Mr Christopher Hornesrud, a farmer and vice-chairman of the party. The new Government will contain no Communists, but only orthodox Labourites, and it will be obliged to adhere to a moderate policy.—A. and N.Z. Caljle.
