DUNEDIN GUN CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Dunedin Gun Club was held last night. Mr G. E. Turner (the president) occupied the chair. The annual report stated that the tonandal year had commenced with a credit balance of £64 9s 9d, and a balance of assets over liabilities of £l4l 3s 7d, and had closed with a credit balance ot £B7 3s the balance of assets over liabilities being £165 5s 6d. The clay birds on hand amounted to approximately £l, against £l7 at the beginmng of the season. The programme for 1927 included some sweepstake matches in place of trophy matches, thus decreasing the club s liability in the balance sheet. During the year £145 2s 2d had been paid in trophy prizes and sweepstakes. The club had not been represented at the New Zealand championships held in the North Island, nor at the South Island clay bird championship held at Rangiora on November 4. Tho committee had applied for the South Island clay bird championship in 1928, but the association had decided in favour of the Springston Gun Club (Canterbury). Mention had been made of establishing an Otago and Southland clay bird championship, and the incoming committee would probably deal with the subject at an early date. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, stated that the executive was anxious to see the membership of the club increased. He had been informed that the club which was formed in Oamaru recently now had a membership of 60. There was no reason, therefore, why the Dunedin Club should not have a larger membership. The finances were very satisfactory, but the executive wanted to be able to carry out bigger contests. There was still heavy liability on the club's land, and it was the ambition of the committee to see the property paid off in the few years the mortgage had yet to run. The club need not take second place to any other club in New Zealand as far as shooting was >ncerned, and he hoped to see sonic representatives at the next South Island championships. A member of the Timaru Club had suggested to him that a match between the Timaru and Dunedin Clubs should be held at Oamaru—a proposal which he thought worth considering. In conclusion, the Chairman paid a tribute to the work of the secretary (Mr A. Fairbairn). The following office-bearers were elected: —Patron. Mr R. Rutherford; vicepatron, Mr W. F.
