A suggestion recently made by the vicar of Leeds, the Rev. W. Thompson Elliott, that there should be a social hour after evensong on Sundays, so that the young people who attend the parish church might have an opportunity of getting to know one another, has met with sufficient response to put the idea into execution. Motor bus lines now outdistance railways in the United States. There are now 270,000 miles of route covered by common carrier bus lines, as compared with 237,000 miles of rail lines. Development of highways, combined with larger, heavier buses, has resulted in the present high place attained by passenger buses.
