CENTRAL OTAGO WEATHER.
(From Qua Own Correspondent.) OPHIR, December 24. Up to j T esterday only 102 points of rain had fallen for this month, and the total for the year was only 14.65 inches. In consequence, the unirrigated pastures were looking very brown—as bare and dry as usually in mid-January. Yesterday evening there was a very welcome thunderstorm, during which 32 points of rain fell, which will help to freshen the country for Christmas. The barometer is now fairly high, the temperature is warm, and the atmosphere seems to be well charged with electricity. There has been a succession of warm days, the shade readings this week being: 75.0 deg, 81.5 deg, TO.Odeg, 73.4 deg, 78.8 deg, and 75.0 de g—an average of 75.6 deg for the six days.
