Importance will be attached to the possession of a distinguished academic record and to published work in relevant subjects, as well as to evidence of general capacity. The initial salary will vary according to qualifications, but will not be less than £SOO nor more than £7OO, increasing by £25 a, year uo to £BOO. Subject to the approval of the Bodleian Curators, the duties of the Keeper will be consistent with the holding of a Lectureship or Research Fellowship at Oxford should one be offered to him.
