THE COMET
HARVARD UNIVERSITY THEORY 1 MAY BE STAR OF BETHLEHEM. (Pros* Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) NEW YORK, December 25. (Received Dec. 25, at 5.5 p.m.) Discussion is proceeding on the theory, which originated at Harvard University observatory, that the Skjellerup comet may have been the original Star of Beth' lehem. Professor Frost, director of Yerkes Observatory at Williams Bay, Wisconsin, says; “A great deal has been written about the Star of Bethlehem for hundreds of years. The Skjellerup comet may have been that star or it may have been any particularly bright star, such as Venus. Again, it might have been a comet that has never reappeared, and still again, it might have been a comet that we on this side of the world never have and never will see. There never will be any scientific determination of the famous star spoken of in the Bible. The Skjellerup comet, however, has gone as far north as it is going. We obtained photographs of it. but not very good ones. It will be more visible on the other side of the world.”—A. and N.Z. Cable.
