PRESIDENT DOUMERGUE
A PRECEDENT BROKEN. JAZZ MUSIC IN THE PALACE. (Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) PARIS, December 25. (Received Dec. 26, at 9 p.m.) Compelled by tradition to spend his second Christmas within the Elysee Palace all day, President Doumergue broke precedent by allowing jazz music and pictures inside the presidential palace for the annual party which is given to selected school children. The President was anxious to see the feature film, and requested a private showing inside the Elysee. which is the first time in history that films have been shown therein. Ihe President then selected a_ Western film . as a feature for the children s parly. All the members of the jazz band were dressed to resemble Santa Claus. M. Clemenceau spent Christinas in Paris instead of proceeding to his fisherman’s cottage in Vendee ns has been bis custom since the end of the war. Ho passed the day quietly owing to the recent death of his brother.
