FELL FROM GIRDER IN MID-AIR. A man, who was standing on a girder being lifted by a crane, was slowly rising past the fifth storey, when he had the misfortune, while changing his position, to drop his tobacco. It fell on to the girder, and in stooping to pick it up ho accidentally knocked it to the street below. To his chagrin, he saw somebody walk away with it. The largest anil most important sale of orchids believed ever to have been held was concluded in London on .September 23 when the famous Kosslyn collection formed by 11. T. I’itt brought £10.700. The top price was 100 guineas for “ Aliltania Lord Latnbourne.” said to be the finest in existence. The principal collectors in America. England, France, Germany, and Belgium were represented.
