MANCHESTER UNITY.

The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Prince of Wales Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., was largely attended, the N.G., Bro, Nelson, presiding. Visitors from Loyal Valley and Albion received a cordial wel come. The meeting opened in mourning for the late Bros. Simpson, Kydd. and Crawford. Two candidates were received into the lodge. The ordinary meeting was first held, the adjourned, and the annual summoned meeting proceeded witii. The principal business was the election of officers, which aroused keen interest and competition. The following were duly elected:—N.G., Bro. Parker; V. Bro. R. S. Jack; G.M., Bro. C. Nelson ; E.S., Bro L. G. Jack ; warden. Bro. E Brown; guardian, Bro. Messlter The D.P.G.M., Bro. Johnston, conciliated the installation ceremony, and wag assisted by P.P.G.M. H. Russell, G.M. Bro. Mosley (Valley), and N.G. Bro. Alpine (Albion). The newly-installed officers were accorded the Oddfellows’ toast. P.P.G.M. Russell promised to visit the lodge early in the new year, with P.G. Hutton, and devote an evening to ritual work in connection with the initiation ceremony. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Bro. Russsell for his offer. A representative committee was appointed for the “ 1000 membership campaign,” and a social committee appointed for the ensuing term. The annual summoned meeting of the Loyal Vincent Lodge was presided over by N.G. Bro. P. Gallagher, there being a large attendance. Two new members were initiated, and two were proposed for membership. The election of officers resulted as follows:—G.M., Bro. P. Gallagher; N.G., Bro. E. Clouston ; V.G., Bro. T. Reid; E.S., Bro. E. White; warden Bro. J. Wroblenski; guardian, Bro W. Howjohn; R.S.N.G., Bro. W. Whyte; L.S.N.G., Bro. E. Pitches, jun. ; R.S.V.G., Bro. Walker: L.S.V.Q., Bro E Bolton; R.S.G.M., Bro. Fitzgerald; L.S.G.M., Bro. Lawrence. The installation' ceremony was efficiently carried out by Past Grands Bros, W. Gallagher, L. Smith, J. Corrigall, and P.S. Bro. Austing. P.G. Bro. W. Gallagher extended festive greetings, which were reciprocated by members. It was decided to start a membership campaign, and a strong committee wag set up. •There was a good attendance of members at the meeting of Loyal Centenary, several visiting brethren being cordially received. After the ordinary meeting the yearly summoned meeting was held. The new officers were elected as follow : —N.G.. Bro. J. Farquharson ; V.G., Bro. J P. Hartstonge; E.S., Bro. M. Pearce;G.M., Bro. Mercer; warden, Bro. A. J. Pearson ; guardian, Bro. E. Butcher. The P.G.M., Bro. Stabb. and the P.C. Secretary, Bro. Hopcraff, of the D.E.. installed the officers, assisted by P.P.G.M. Bro. Sullivan, N.G. Bro. M‘Call, and P. G.’s Isaacs and Wood. In connection with the membership campaign, a committee of six was appointed to represent the lodge. The Albion Lodge met on Thursday evening, a good attendance of members and visitors greeting the N.G., who presided. An official visit was received from brethren of the Loyal Prince of Wales, who were cordially welcomed. After the business of the ordinary meeting had been dealt with the annual summoned meeting and the election and installation of officers were proceeded with. Keen competition ensued for the various chairs, necessitating several ballots for some of tho officers. The following were elected : —N.G., Bro. W. J. Gifford ; V.G., Bro. W. Longworth ; G.M., Bro. H. Alpine; K. Bro. Horwood; warden, Bro. G. Wilson: guardian. Bro. P. 'Harris. The P.G.M. Bro. Stabb, P.C. secretary, Bro. Hopcraft, and P.P.G.M. Bro. Clarke duly installed the new officers, assisted by visiting brethren. A telegram was read from P.P.G.M. Bro. Goughian (Pembroke), conveying seasonal greetings and congratulations to the newly-installed officers. The P.G.M., Bro. Stabb, reply ing to th e toast of the district executive, expressed regret at the illness of the prov. treasurer, Bro, A. Sligo, and hopes were expressed that he would soon be restored to .health. The P.G.M. stated that the busy period of installations concluded with the Albion meeting, and expressed the pleasure it gave him to conduct the ceremony in connection with his own (Albion Lodge) He expressed his thanks to the brethren of the various lodges who had so ably assisted the exe--1 cutive during the many installations, stating that on one night last week no fewer than five installations had been held, ranging from Port Chalmers to Kaij tangata. At th e latter lodge the execuI tivcT had attended a very fine meeting—i Ridging by the large attendances and I the enthusiasm displayed at the various meetings the Manchester Unity should advance during the coming year. The P.G.M. referred appreciatively to the work of P.G. Bro. J. Carrington, who had been a member of the Order for 55 years, and who still tonic an active in torest in Dddfellowship. The interesting fact was disclosed that a brother of the newly-installed V.G. (Bro. Longwortn) was at present P.G.M. of a district in F-Haml. The P. secretary, Bro. Hopi raft, and P.P.G M. Clarke also re 1 sponded.
