LOYAL DALTON LODGE.

The annual meeting of the Loyal Dalton Lodge, Manchester Unity, held at Baldutha last evening, was one of the best attended meetings held during the year, over 60 members being present. N.G. Bro. James Craig, after reading apologies for non-attendance from the Pro. G. Master, Bro. P. Stabb, P.G.’s Bros. R. C. Moore, LawVence, and P.G. Peter Thomson, Tapanui, etxended a hearty welcome to the members of the Central 1000 New Member Campaign Committee, and also to the visitors from Port Molyneux and Kaitangata. The business of the ordinary meeting having been disposed of, the N.G. declared the summoned meeting open, and called upon P.P.G.M. Bro. A. Wylie to take charge of tho installation ceremony The following officers were then installed :—G.M., Bro. James Craig; N.G., Bro. J. M. Moffat; V.G., Bro. L. Moffat; E.S., Bro. G. Moffat; warden, Bro. P. Clark; guardian, Bro. K. Johnston; conductor, Bro. R. O. Willocks. After the responses had been given the Oddfellows’ toast was given with musical honours. The proposer of the 1000 new member campaign, on rising to address the meeting, was accorded an ovation, and in a rousing address outlined tho work that the Central Committee was doing, and expressed the hope, that the Loyal Dalton Lodge would add its full quota of members during 1928. P.P.G.M. Bro. J. Robson and P.G. Bro. P. Young, members of the Central Committee, endorsed the . remarks of the previous speaker, and said that the coming vear gave promise of a great revival. A strong New Member Campaign Committee was then appointed. P.P.G.M. Bro. A. Wylie and P.P.G.M. Bro. T. Middleman responded on behalf of the visitors. At the close of the meeting the local members entertained the visitors, and a most enjoyable couple of hours was spent. N.G. Bro. James Craig made an excellent chairman. Toast, song, and stories followed in quick succession, Bros. J. H. Guest, J. Guest, Ludlow, Campbell, Hewing, Robson, Young, and Lowry contributing, while the following toasts were honoured: —“The King,” “ 1000 Member Campaign Committee,” “ The Visitors,” “ Loval Dalton Lodge,” and “ The Moffat Family.” Bro. Moffat, sen., when replying to the last-named toast, said the family appreciated the honour, and assured'' the meeting that the family would give the lodge every assistance during 1928. “ Auld Lang Syne ” brought to a close a memorable meeting.
