CANDOUR IN EVIDENCE.
RESERVED JUDGMENT GIVEN. Praise for the manner in which their evidence was presented to the court was given to the principal witnesses in a case arising out of a motor car collision by Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning. “ Seldom has the court heard the principal evidence given ith uch candour,” he said, when delivering his reserved judgment. The case was one in which Helen Riley (Mr W. L. Moore) claimed £SO 4s, damages following a collision between her car and a cm driven hv Father Michael Howard of Milton (Mr J. B. Callan). The counter-claimed the sum of £7 7s 3d. The Magistrate added that- th e circumstances were such that the collision seemed to have been due to mint uegd--'cnee. -Judgment was given for the defendant on the claim, and for the plain(ilf on the counter-claim. the plaintiff was allowed £1 Is solicitor’s fees on the counter-claim, and the 'ofendant was awarded £3 3s solicitor s ces on the claim.
