ICE CREAM VENDOR FINED. (Psn United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, December 22. Henry G. Carter, a Petone Workshops employee, was fined £1 at Petone yesterday for delivering ice cream on a Sunday, the charge being that of carrying on the occupation in view of a public place. The defence was made that Carter was only doing a friendly turn for a manufacturer named Waddington, against whom a similar charge was laid, and that he wag not a paid servant. He admitted, however, that on occasions he had sold ica cream on a commission basis. Mr J. H. Salmon, S.M., said the defendant must he considered a person with more than one occupation. The charga against Waddington was dismissed, as there was no evidence of his having given authority for the delivery of the ic< cream.
