Ministerial. The Prime Minister returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday (reports a Press Association telegram). He will leave again this afternoon, and will spend the holidays at his homestead at Matakohe. Mr Erie Russell, Invercargill, left for Wellington by the through express yesterday. . Mr W. Watters was a passenger for Wellington by the second express yesterday. Mr J. M‘C. Dickson, M.P., was a passenger for the north by the second express yesterday. Mr Reg. Powell left by the second express for the north yesterday, on route to Sydney, where he intends to take up his Mr E. A. Ponsford, of Australian cricket fame, broke his own and the world's r.ecord for an. individual innings in tho Sheffield Shield match between Victoria and Queensland at Melbourne on Saturday, arrived m W ellington by tho Marama from Sydney on Tuesday morning. Mr J. Pickard, who has recently been appointed to the position of district traffic manager at Invercargill, has, for the past 18 months, been assistant traffic manager at Dunedin, during which period lie has proved himself a popular and efficient officer Mr Pickard joined the railway service in 1801, and held various positions in nearly every district in the tuo islands, until being attached to the traffic department at Wellington. Later he became station master at Now Plymouth, and, after holding this position for some time, uo was again transferred to Wellington in the capacity of chief of the train running branch of the district traffic manager’s office, whore lie remained until coming to Dunedin. Mr tl. Harris, manager of the jobbing department, said that all were sorry that Mr Inglis was leaving. He had proved himself a first-class tradesman and a most agreeable workmate. He hoped that if Mr Inglis made another move it would be to return to Dunedin. Mr V. Perry (foreman) and Mr R. Ferguson also referred to Air Inglis’s many good qualities, Mr Ferguson remarking that Mr Inglis was one of the finest-tempered men lie had ever met. Air Inglis, who was presented with a handsome travelling rug, made a suitable response. At the conclusion of a meeting of the directors of Producers, Ltd.,, hold on Monday last, the chairman (Mr E. IT. Murnl *vj in making a presentation to Mr Charles E. Pryce (manager), expressed ’nis and his co-directors’ regret that Mr Pryce was severing his connection with the firm. Mr Murney thanked Mr Pryce for the excellent work he had done in bringing the company to its present position "and said he was satisfied that though they were losing Mr Prycc’s services they knew that he had the success of the company at heart and would at ail times do anything that lay in his power to assist them. Mr Murney wished Mr Pryce success in Ins new sphere, and also asked him to convey the thanks of the directors to Mrs Pryce for the interest she had taken in the successful formation of the compnny. Mr J. D. Rsvic cind Mr John Clarke endorsed the chairman’s remarks. Mr Pryce thanked Mr Murney and the directors for their gift and kindly remarks, and assured them that lie would follow with interest the progress of the company. Anything he could do to advise or assist them would be done willingly He was satisfied that the company had" a great future. Mr Pryce will take up a position as manager of the Dunedin branch of the New Zealand Express Company, Ltd., early in January.
