WEIGHTS AND MEASURES. NEW REGULATIONS ISSUED. (Peb Gnited Peebs Association.) WELLINGTON, December 21. Under a recent weights and measures regulation it will be an offence from January 10 for any person to sell by package the following articles in any quantities other than in loz, 2oz, 4oz, 6oz, Boz, 12oz, 11b, 11,lb, or multiples of lib net avoidupois weight; 1 fluid oz, 2 fluid oz, £ gill, 1 g‘h, 2 pt, Ipt, Upt, Iqt, igal, Igal, or multiples of a gallon net measure sugar, coffee, coffee and chicory, cocoa and cocoa powder, chocolate powder, treacle, and golden syrnp, pepper, mustard, black Japan, including its substitutes, bruns j wick black, including its substitutes, candles, other than fancy, nails, including clout nails, staples, brads, panel pins, and gimp pine, tobacco, turpentine, including its mineral substitutes, and varnish, including varnish stain and lacquer. The, regulations will apply to paints after July 10.
The provisions shall not apply to any article weighed nr measured in llio presence of the purchaser, and where tho weight or measure is that asked for. They shall not ripply to any article sold in a bottle, except in the case of milk.
