INTENSE COLD CONTINUES. BLIZZARD ON SOUTH COAST. (British Official Wireless.) rfreta Association -Bj Telegraph—Copyright ) RUGBY, December 20. The severe wintry weather continues throughout Britain, and the south coast last night experienced a blizzard. In London th e weather is clear and sunny, but for the fifth successive day the temperature is well below freezing point. Skating is proceeding in many parts of the country, and snow covers the midland and northern shires. The forecast is for a continuation of the present indications over Christmas.

FRANCE STILL SUFFERING. THE HOSPITALS OVERCROWDED. PARIS, December 20. There hav e been five additional deaths from exposure and extreme cold. The hospitals are finding difficulty in accommodating the rapidly increasing number of people overcome by the weather. The police are taking elaborate measures to protect the hungry and the homeless. INTENSE COLD IN EUROPE. SENTRIES FROZEN TO WEATH. LONDON, December 20. (Received Dec. 21, at 8.5 p.m.) The bitter weather continues to be the topic of conversation throughout Europe. There have been several deaths of shepherds and tramps in England through the cold. Heavy snowstorms are reported from the east coast of Scotland. Dublin is snowbound, and there have been the heaviest snowstorms for many years at Limerick and elsewhere. The gendarmes in Paris go to the police stations hourly to recover from exposure. There have been 35 deaths in France owing to the cold, of which 12 were in Paris. Seventeen Greek sentries were frozen to death while guarding the railway from Ghevaeli to Demkirkapu. which route the British troops from Salonika followed in war time. Three others were taken to the hospital and are not expected to recover. The cold in Germany is intense, and trains are everywhere delayed by frozen signals. The temperature at Breslau is 52dcg below freezing point—the lowest since 1799. Cargo vessels on the Danube have been stopped owing to ice in the river.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
