A powerful new motor pilot launch for 1 the Timaru Harbour Board will be launched from Miller and Tunnage’s yard to-day at Port Chalmers. The Opihi is due at Dunedin early this morning from Wellington with general cargo, including transhipments ez the Tahiti from San Francisco and Island porta. The Opihi is timed to sail to-morrow fo r Westport, | where she will load for Bluff and Dunedin. The Walpahl 1s due at Dunedin this morning from Auckland and Lyttelton to discharge and load general cargo. She is to sail to-night for Lyttelton, Napier, and Auckland. The Kahika was expected to leave Gisborne yesterday for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She will probably arrive here on Sunday. The Storm has been fixed to load at Dunedin on January 3 for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Wanganui, and Picton. The Union liner Marama, which arrived at Wellington on Tuesday morning from Sydney, is timed to sail at XI a.m. to-morrow on the return voyage. The steamer Surat arrived at Auckland early on Tuesday morning from Peru with a cargo of raw sugar. The steamer Tymorlc left Auckland on Tuesday afternoon for Wellington, whore the remainder of her hardwood cargo from Bunbury will be discharged. The Port Fremantle arrived , at Wellington yesterday from Lyttelton to continue Homeward loading. She will complete her cargo at Napier, and will sail from the Hawke’s Bay port about December 30 for London, via Panama. The Tongariro, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton yesterday to complete her loading’ for London. The vessel is\ expected to sail to-morrow, via Panama. The Makura left Papeete on December 13 for San Francisco, wh’ere she is due tomorrow.

WAIHORA’S CREW ARRIVED. A Japanese crew arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday to man the Waihora, which was recently sold by the Union Steam Ship Company to a Japanese firm. The Waihora will probably go into dry dock, to-day. RUAPEHU HOMEWARD BOUND. Cable advice received by the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the Ruapehu arrived at Panama on December 18 from Auckland, and sailed from Colon the same day for Southampton and London. The vessel left Auckland on November 26. IONIC’S SAILING DATE. The Shaw. Savlll, and Albion Company advises that the lonic is now timed to sail from Auckland at daybreak on Saturday, December 31, for Southampton and London, via Panama.. PORT DENISON’S ITINERARY. The local agents for the C. and D. Line announce an alteration in the Port Denison’s loading programme. The vessel, which Is now at Bluff, will proceed later to Lyttelton, Wellington, Wanganui roadstead, and Port Chalmers to complete loading. She is due at Port Chalmers on January 9, and will sail finally from there about January 11 for London, via Panama. TAMAROA’S OFFICERS. Captain W. H. MAHIA AT PORT CHALMERS. The Shaw, Savlll, and Albion steamer Mahia arrived yesterday afternoon from Lyttelton, and was berthed at Port Chalmers to load a quantity of produce for England and stud sheep for Punta Arenas. On her present voyage the Mahia left London on September 1 for Australia, via Capetown. Her general merchandise cargo was unloaded at Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Townsville. From Townsville the Mahia went to Auckland to unload 1000 tons of maize from South Africa and to load refrigerated cargo. She later proceeded to New Plymouth, Wanganui roadstead, and Wellington for further loading. Captain G. Williams Is In command, and has associated with him the following officers:—Chief, Mr E. G. WEST CALERA FROM AMERICA. The American steamer West Calera arrived at Dunedin yesterday afternoon from the Pacific Coast of America, via Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. She "was berthed at the Victoria wharf, where the local portion of her freight, consisting of general merchandise, case oil, and lumber, is being discharged. The West Calera loaded at Vancouver, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, and San Pedro. She sailed finally from the latter port on November 8. Fine weather conditions prevailed throughout the voyage, until about November 27, when the West Calera encountered fresh winds and heavy seas which caused her to reduce speed for a time. Conditions soon moderated, and the vessel arrived at Auck’and on December 3, only a few hours behind schedule. RIMUTAKA, FROM LONDON. A RECORD PASSAGE. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rlmutaka arrived at Port Chalmers last night from London. On November 10 this well-known liner left the Thames, embarked 118 passengers next day at Southampton, and sailed for New Zealand. The weather was fine throughout the passage, which was made via Panama, and there was an absence of any untoward incident to mar the pleasure of the passengers. The Rimutaka made the passage in 37 days to vvellington, and it is her record trip, of which Captain F. A. Hemming, who has commanded the vessel for 15 years, is very proud. The passengers, with the exception of eight for Dunedin, were disembarked at Wellington. The Rimutaka will come up to Dunedin to-morrow to discharge general cargo, her other ports of discharge being Lyttelton and Napier. . ~, Captain Hemming has associated with him the following officers Mr H.
