THEFT OF DIAMOND RINGS. JEWELLER’S WINDOW BROKEN. (PreEs Association—By relegrapb-fCopyriglit i MELBOURNE, December 20. A man threw the wheel jack of a motor car through the window of H. Bright, jeweller, at Carlton, and snatched a tray of diamond rings, valued at over £IOOO. He then escaped in a stolen motor car, which an accomplice was driving. A MAN FOUND DEAD. BELIEVED TO BE NEW ZEALANDER SYDNEY, December 20. Sidney Wade, who is believed recently to have arrived from New Zealand, was found dead in the city residential area. H e had been in ill-health for some time. There were no suspicious circumstances attached to his death. RAIN IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA. AGRICULTURAL BENEFITS. ADELAIDE, December 20. The Australian Imperial Force Canteen Funds Trust reports that its funds are now exhausted. During the past seven years it has distributed £745,000 in 49,587 grants to seriously disabled soldiers and to dependents of dead soldiers. The report claims that Australia is the only country whose profits from war canteens have been distributed among the repvcsen. tatives of the original contributors. . AFTER FOURTEEN YEARS.
