OTAGO DRIVERS’ UNION.
The first meeting of the Otago Drivers’ Union Picnic Committee was held last evening, when it was decided again to hold the annual picnic. The location of the picnic was fixed for Evansdale, on a date to bo agreed upon in February. The committee made preliminary preparations. The following officials wore elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr J. Howie; vice-president. Mr G. Gcddes ; secretary. Mr W. Herbert; committee —- Messrs D. Daketi, J. Williams, J. Jelly, M. --Rev. IV. C. Wittau. vii-ar of Messing, near Tiptree, Essex, England, has thought of an original method of shaming members of his congregation who nut pearl buttons in the collection hag. The buttons are atiixed to a card pining on tin. church door in full view of the congregation as they leave after the service.
