MIGRANTS TO DOMINION.
CONTINUANCE OF RESTRICTION'S. STATEMENT BY PRIME MINISTER. (Special to Daily Times.) WELLINGTON, December IS. The restrictions aa to the number of assisted immigrants who are to be allowed to enter New Zealand are to be continued for some months yet. When, as a result of the economic depression, it appeared likely that the Dominion would experience a period of unemployment, the Government decided to reduce to a minimum during the winter months the number of assisted immigrants arriving m the Dominion. Subsequently it was stated that the restrictions would continue from October 31 until December 31, 1927. This, it was considered, would give further tuns for the absorption of the unemployed. The only exceptions from the restrictions related to members of separated families, domestic servants, and boys brought out under the Flock House, Salvation Army, and Church of England schemes. In reply to a question the Prime Minister (Mr .1. 0. Coates) stated to-day that the Cabinet had again considered the matter, and the restrictions would continue until well into next year, until about June.
