CITY POLICE COURT.
Thursday, December 15. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) DISORDERLY BEHAVIOUR. Walter Thomas Heller and John Bernard Hill appeared for sentence on a charge of having behaved in a disorderly manner at North-East Valley, in the Catholic School ground.—His Worship said that he had perused the probation officer's report, which did not say much in favour of either of the defendants. They would bo convicted and fined £2 each, in default seven days' imprisonment. A REMAND. Henry Hunter M'Coll was charged with wilfully wounding a sow, valued at £B, at Riverside, Outram. The police asked for a remand until the following day, and this was granted. (Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.) CLAIM FOR AFFILIATION. Aubrey Harvey Perkins was proceeded against on a complaint for affiliation and maintenance orders.—The defendant was represented by Mr Hanlon, and Mr Irwin appeared for the complainant. —Defendant, a farmer, living near Mataura, denied paternity. He said that he had never been unduly familiar with the complain ant, nor had he met the complainant on the dates alleged by her. Complainant had, one night while she was in witness’s car, told him that she was in trouble, and suggested marriage, whereupon he told her to get out of the car. She did so, and walked home. He denied ever having re. ceived any letters from the complainant, or giving her any presents.—To Mr Irwin Defendant said that in 1925 he had intended marrying the complainant, but he had objected to another man coming to see her.—Evidence was given by the defendant’s mother, and by his two brothers —Henry and Stanley.—The Magistrate reserved his decision till the following day.
