(From Our Own Correspondent.) MILTON, December 15. BOWLING. Three rinks from the local club will visit Lawrence on Saturday to play a . friendly match against the Lawrence Club. CRICKET. Tho proposed inter-centre match between Eastern Districts and South Otago, which was to have been played on Saturday, has been postponed owing to the former s inability to raise a team. The executive has therefore decided to continue tho second round of the shield fixtures, and the following matches in tho northern division will take place on Saturday: Milton A v. Stirling, :at Stirling; Milton B. v. Lovells Fiat, at Milton; Kaitangata v. Milburn, at Kaitangata. Milton A Team.—E. Olver, Turnbull (2), Wilson (2) Heads, Hood, Cunningham, Gibb, Findlay, Jeffery. Bruce, a porter at Milton railway station, has ben promoted to the position of shunter, and transferred to Lyttelton. He left by this morning’s express. Mr Bruce was tendered a farewell evening by the station staff last night, and presented with a Bruce travelling rug. Eulogistic references to his manifold good qualities were made by Mr C. H. Gorrard (stat.onmastor;, Mr Colgan (chief clerk), and several fellow workers. / Mr B. A. Long, assistant in Messrs Donald Reid and Co.’s stock agency office at Milton, proceeded to Middlcmarch yesterday on transfer to the firm’s branch office in tho Central district. Ho is succeeded at Milton by Mr Henry Beattie, from Middlemarch. GIRL GUIDES. By means of an entertainment given by the first and second companies of Milton Girl Guides the Christmas cheer funds of four orphanages have benefited by £2 each. The orphanages were St. Mary’s (Mornington), Catholic (South Dunedin), Methodist (Christchurch), and Presbyterian (Dunedin). . The local companies will terminate their year's operations with an outing on Saturday afternoon.
