GOVERNOR OF OKLAHOMA
IMPEACHED BY LEGISLATURE. IRREGULARITIES IN FINANCE. (I’m! Association—By Telegraph—Copy right.) NEW YORK, December 12. A message, from Oklahoma City states that Governor Johnson, who is fighting the insurgent Legislature which is determined to impeach him on the ground of irregularities in public finance, succeeded in preventing a session of the lawmakers in the State capitol by dispersing them with the national guards. The Governor obtained an injunction restraining the Lower House from receiving the impeachment charges drawn up by the investigating committee. The injunction also prevented impeachment in any other State. Officials and legislators say that they will meet outside the capitol and continue the impeachment proceedings, despite the courts and the troops which tha Governor called out. While bitterly denouncing the legislative insurgents, Governor Johnson said; “ The danger to constitutional authority is great, and its destruction is imminent.” The legislators describe the Governor's actions as “ the last desperate move of a mad tyrant.”
