(From Due Own Correspondent.) BALCLUTHA, December 13. PROFICIENCY EXAMINATION. Forty-two pupils of the Balclutha Primary School 'mined proficiency certificates out of 44 who sat for examination, and two gained competency passes. Bird (chief inspector of schools), and Mr Douglas Taylor (supervisor of music), whose subject was “ Rhythm.’ There were some songs by the girls of Wellington College. Inspector Irwin (Otago Education Board) was present, and questioned the children on their impressions.
