THROWN FROM A HORSE.

COMPENSATION CLAIM FAILS. (Per United Press Association.) TIMARU, August 29. The Arbitration Court had before It to-day a claim for £4O by a nursery governess who suffered injury througn her employer’s horse stumbling and throwing her when she was riding with one of the children of the family. The plaintiff claimed that she was injured when she was engaged in part of her duty, and she was therefore entitled to compensation under the Workers’ Compensation Act. The court held that the girl with whom she was riding at the time of the accident was not in her charge. She went to a boarding school, and was home onlv at week-ends. The plaintiff was engaged to teach her two younger sisteia, and she went for the ride for her own" pleasure and not to look after the girl, who was a much better horsewoman than the plaintiff. Judgment was given for the defendant.
