THE OTAGO FOOTBALL LEAGUE.

TO THE r - rou. Sir, — In your issue of the 13th inst. appears a report of an executive meeting of the Otago Rugby Football League, at which a requisition was served on the president. At that meeting Mr B. 0. Nees is reported to have made the statement that he does not want his name associated with the business, and consequently he proposed a motion that all business transacted by this (now defunct) executive be null and void. Why this sudden change of front? Surely Mr iSTees has no intention of shirking any responsibilities that have been incurred by this body. There has been certain business transacted and attempted that will have to be opened up to the light of day, and someone is going to answer for it. I wonder if the members of this small coterie thought they were going to bludgeon their way through and play ducks and drakes jvith the rules of the constitution and everything else. The only conclusion to be arrived at is that with all their engineering they have ignominiously failed. Another member is reported to the effect that he will welcome the opportunity the forthcoming meeting will give and that there will be strong talk at the meeting. There is one consolation. Both sides, I hope, will be afforded the opportunity, particularly the pessimistic and suspicious persons, to state their grievances, which will be eagerly awaited. Personally I am in accord with the sentiment that it is time we made a clean breast of th.e whole affair, both imaginary and otherwise. The unfortunate part is that the agony has been unduly prolonged, as the mooting could have been held next week instead of the 20th inst., so that the players can get going. Despite the hitch, there is no need for despair, and the players can rest assured that fate has decreed that right will prevail and that optimism is a better characteristic than pessimism and will ultimately succeed.—l am, etc., Leagueite. St. Hilda, April 15.
