OBITUARY.

MR P. L. CLARK. -v The death occurred last night of Mr P. L. Clark at the age of 62. Mr Clark was the eldest son of the late Rev. James Clark, of Palmerston. He qualified as a school teacher, but, after serving for some years, lie joined the Colonial Ban.c. and was manager' of several of its branches. After its amalgamation with the Bank of New Zealand, he left its service and entered into partnership in the firm of J. G. Wilkie and Co., where he remained for some time. He left the firm to take up social work in the city. For 10 years he has been secretary of the Presbyterian Social Service Association, of which he was also superintendent for some time. He took a warm interest in the various Presbyterian institutions, more particularly the orphanages and the Ross Home for the aged. For a number of vears ho was a member of the Maori Hill Borough Council, serving a term as Mayor. Over a long period he was a member of the Maori Hill School Committee, of which he was chairman at the time of his death. He was one of the founders of the Maori Hill Presbyterian Church, being leader of the Bible class, as well as superintendent of the Sunday school. He was actively connected with Presbyterian foreign mission work, for some years acting as honorary secretary of the local committee. He paid a visit of investigation to the various mission stations in the South Sea Islands, and the information he gathered has sinie been; of assistance to the committee in its work. Mr Clark was also connected with Knox College, being treasurer for a lime, as well as a member of the board. He was a member of the Balmacewen Bowling Club. Mr Clark is survived by his wife and two sons—Mr James Clark (who is a music teacher at Milton) and Mr Jack Clark (who is with the Westport Coal Company).
