BOXING.
PURDY LEAVES FOR OLD COUNTRY. A SUCCESSFUL CAREER. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, April 15Making his second visit to the Old Country, Purdie, professional light-weight champion of New Zealand, left by the Sydney steamer, the Marama, yesterday. Ha intends to make matches at Sydney, Melbourne, and Capetown on his way. If he is successful in London Purdie _ will then proceed to Pans and the Continent and later to the United States. As a boxer Purdy has a great career. In 1924 he represented New Zealand at the 01 yiupic Games in Paris, and later, while faying a visit to Ireland, he defeated the rish welter-weight champion.
