THEFTS FROM SHOPS.
TWO YOUTHS CONVICTED. (Per Unitfo Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 3. In the Police Court Alfred Turnbull, aged 17, and another youth of the same age, whose name was ordered to be suppressed, were charged with thefts from shops, 18 charges being preferred against Turnbull, including an attempt to break and enter the Morrinsvillc railway station. Both pleaded' guilty. Both youths came from respectable families, but Turnbull was said to be ono of the more active members of a gang of young thieves. Turnbull was sent to the Supreme Court for trial; the other youth was fined £5 and ordered to make restitution. The reason given for the suppression of the latter’s name was that the boy has a twin brother of excellent character in a good situation.
