A DIET OF SPOONS
GERMAN PRISONER’S TACTICS. CHARGE OF THEFT FOLLOWS. (Frees Association —By Telegraph—Copyright.) BERLIN, January 23. The forger Adolf Moritz many times obtained release from gaol as the result of swallowing spoons in preference to hunger striking. The authorities thought to thwart him by providing giant spoons, with specially long handles. Moritz again became ill, and four spoons were missing. An X-ray showed that he had swallowed the handles. The authorities performed an operation, after which Moritz was charged with stealing prison property.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
