RIFLE SHOOTING.

DUNEDIN DEFENCE CLUB. The Dunedin Defence Rifle Club shot tho fnal competition for prizes donated by Mr A. J. Shaw and the club on Saturday afternoon. There was an attendance of 18, and seven shots each (two sighters) were fixed at 300, 500, knd 690 yards. Following aro scores of 31 and upwards, and the highest aggregates:— A. W. The Kiwi Rifle Club fired the first match of No. 5 Series on Saturday afternoon for prizes presented by the club. There was a gusty fish tail wind, and most of the shooters found it hard to register good scores. The veteran. Rifleman Rains, put on 84 and Rifleman Gillick 82, which, was very good under prevailing conditions. Rifleman F. S. Webster, 45 at 500 yards, was also good. Scores:— A' GRADE. C. The Kaitangata Club fired the last match of the second competition on Saturday last, but owing to the early part of the afternoon being wet a smaller muster than usual took place. Good scores were obtained bv J- Frazer, F. Carson, J. Mackie, and T. Frazer, and the last-named membep was successful in winning the competition from F. Carson by one point. The championship of the club after next Saturday’s shot will have reached an interesting stage. The position now is:— J Frazer 452, F. Carson 446, J. Mackie 443, H. Baker and R. M'Crostie 440. In the Lee Cup competition the follow ing is the position of those who have completed their sis shoots: —F. Carson 369, T. Frazer 368. R. M'Crostie 366, G. Frazer 365, J. Mackie 364. J. Coulter has scored 315 in five shoots. Next Saturday the match will be a Cooke Cup shoot, 10 shots at 500yds and 600yds. • _ , The following are Saturdays scores (limit 66): — T.
