DEEP SEA FISHING
FAMOUS AUTHOR’S JAUNT. SCHOONER LEAVES AUCKLAND. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, January 22. Zane Grey’s auxiliary three-masted schooner, vEisherman, was towed out from her berth at Queen’s wharf this morning by the tu" Toawhina, and her departure was watched with keen interest by a little crowd Of idlers, very few of whom would not have been very willing to change places with the fortunate people sitting or standing about the I™p of the y acht ‘ It was one of Auckland’s idyllic summer days, not too hot, with a nice breeze blowing from the north, and the people who know the delightful bays and coves for which the yacht is bound could picture the very pleasant iaunt upon which the famous author and his guests were bound It is said the trip is costing the owner something like £25 000 which seems a lot of money, but the landlubbers who saw the snick and snan craft go out this morning would admit it was a very charming way of spending one’s money. The decks of the vacht looked very crowded with such an array of fishing launehes-four in al t "nd the bystanders remarked that they all bore the brand of local fishing launches—“AK 1172” and so on. Evidently licenses had to be taken out for these craft Crude oil is being used in the Fisherman’s engines, which give her a speed of about seven knots.
